About Me
I attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, where I obtained a quality education. I student taught with Mrs. Iona Li, Rodel Foundation Exemplary Teacher for 2005, in her fourth grade classroom. In 1997, I earned my Bachelors of Arts degree in Elementary Education (K-8). I then taught for seven years in a variety of grades and locations, including one year teaching English at a primary school in China. My time as an educator continues to be some of the most rewarding moments of my life.
While working at a non-profit organization which provides mentoring to students within the school setting, I found myself desiring to provide even more advocacy and service for students and their families. The school counselors I worked with encouraged me to apply to graduate school in the School Counseling program. I was fortunate to be accepted to a program in 2009.
In the School Counseling program, I was assigned a program mentor who happened to be a University Studies graduate mentor, as well. He encouraged me to apply, and when I'd done the research, I was more than happy to do so! Once accepted, I attended a comprehensive training course led by Jacob Sherman and Dana Lundell. I am currently a graduate student and mentor, learning daily from classes, internships, and my mentoring experiences!
